May Hounds Foster Carer


As a foster carer You will be assuming a vital role in the life of this greyhound. From you they will learn skills and behaviours to equip them for adoption into a new forever home and a lifetime of love and commitment.
Your responsibility is to provide a safe and happy environment for the greyhound, to facilitate their socialisation and to introduce them to the joys of living in a family home.


⦁ Give the hound stable leadership to learn about his new life outside of a kennel environment
⦁ Introducing them new sights and smells – in and out of your home
⦁ Introducing them to different people and animals – on and off your property
⦁ Assist with temperament testing, basic training and any behavioural modification requirements.
⦁ Taking them to May Hounds events
⦁ Take them to vets for medical treatment if required
⦁ Provide May Hounds with weekly updates and photos of thier progress
⦁ Contact May Hounds with any concerns or problems as soon as possible
⦁ Provide May Hounds with a summary of their personality, likes and dislikes and photos for their adoption profile.
⦁ Attend meet and greets prospective adopters
⦁ Give them love and attention


In return May Hounds will;
Provide you with a monthly food allowance, a one off bedding allowance, promotional jacket, a dog crate and 24hour contact.
We supply your hound with a collar and lead, muzzle and coat (if required)
Without the time and support of volunteers we would not be able to rehome our greyhounds. We cannot thank you enough.
