Whats Next?

Once you and your family have established you are ready to welcome a greyhound into home, we ask that you fill out one of our application forms off our website and give us as much helpful detail as you can to help us determine the best match for you.

Please understand that matching you up with the right hound can take some time and is different for everyone dependant your circumstances and the availability of a suitable hound.

It can take weeks or even months.

We have a collection of greyhounds circulating through our foster homes which are located in both the North & South Islands of NZ and dogs on a wait list.

Once taking in all your requirements and preferences we will make initial contact with you via phone and then arrange for a home check by one of our amazing community support greyhound owners.

They will arrange a time suitable to pop around with their greyhound to check over your property for suitability to house a greyhound.

This is also a super time to ask lots of questions to the greyhound owner and get your hands on a greyhound, check out the size and look of one inside your home!

The next step is for us to match you up with a hound we have done our assessments on and who is settled and ready to leave foster care and to join their forever home!

You will have a chance to speak with the hounds foster parent and arrange a ‘meet & greet’ prior to the official adoption taking place!

May Hounds endeavour to support you with any issues you may have settling in your dog, as well as providing you with educational materials and guidelines we recommend for owning a greyhound and welcoming them into your home.
