Foster Application Form

This questionnaire is to ensure you understand the extra responsibilities that come with fostering a retired greyhound.

Not all households are suitable for greyhound foster so we need as much information as possible to assess suitability.

Please ensure that you complete the form in full and include all relevant information.  Failure to do so will result in a delayed or rejected application.

Greyhounds typically don't jump fences or dig under them; however, good fencing of at least 1.4 meters high is necessary to ensure the welfare of the dog. Please note that greyhounds don't need much space, so say, if only the back part of your section is fenced, that is more than sufficient.
Have you done research on the breed, Do you know someone with one, I saw some at a rehoming event
● The dog will not be tethered, chained or tied up; it will be kept inside, or in a kennel or crate, or in a suitably fenced safe section. ● The dog will be kept on leash and muzzled at all times when off your property ● I have read and understood the animal welfare act and code of welfare for dogs and am aware of local bylaws and regulations. ● I understand that I have support from MAY HOUNDS, 24/7. ● The dog will not be used for any anti-racing activity or anti-racing propaganda . I understand that the dog is not a rescue dog and will ensure it is not referred to as such by myself and members of my family. ● If my living circumstances change I will immediately inform May Hounds. ● I agree to return the dog to MAY HOUNDS should I no longer wish to remain the foster carer of the dog. PLEASE NOTE: May Hounds Charitable Trust takes no responsibility or liability for any damage or injury the dog may cause to property or persons. Whilst every care is taken to gain as much information on the dogs temperament prior to placing into foster, they can have issues. May Hounds reserves the right to refuse any applicant and will not enter any further correspondence on our decision. We reserve the right to uplift the dog should any issues arise where the requirements of foster have not been adhered to or we feel the dog is not being looked after properly.
